Raven DuBois was the leader of the Rise of the Swift, and a member of the Black Lotus Society's inner circle. According to captured letters, testimony from interrogated minions, and other evidence gathered at a Swift outpost near Sylvania, she was an elf who usurped the leadership of the guild from its previous leader through trickery and betrayal. A secret and evil shrine uncovered in the Swift base hints that she worshipped, or possibly even served higher and darker powers, but not even other Rise of the Swift members seemed to know who or what. She was encountered by the Planeswalkers in the dungeons of the The Red Pit in Carceri, where she was grievously injured and tumbled seemingly to her death down a chasm. During the battle, she exposed a tattoo or marking on her arm, which glowed with fell power when she invoked it, corroborating rumors of her connection to demonic powers.(3)

Unbeknownst to the Planeswalkers, the broken body of Raven DuBois was rescued from Carceri and brought back to Torch, where her head was grafted onto the body of a Blood Golem to keep her alive . The process had devastated her mind, leaving her little more than a bloodthirsty automaton obsessed with death. She finally met her end when the Planeswalkers assaulted the Gray Orb compound in Torch and defeated her in the final battle (19)
